My husband and I are just getting into digital photography. We've always loved taking photos and have recently gotten a Canon Rebel. We have an HP Photosmart printer and a digital Sony monitor but now we want to get a new PC that is compatable with a Sony SDM-HS74P monitor. We've looked and looked and the only thing we've found, that is remotely close, is basically the HP Media Center m7170n. VERY nice computer but we are really not interested in watching and recording TV programs PLUS we have to have some sort of adapter or port installed to handle thte DVI. We want a computer that will be compatable with the DVI of the Sony, handle lots of pictures and enable us to work with our pictures. I like the idea of putting the card from the camera directly into the computer, I like having some of the ports at the front of the PC as well as the back, I want to have a CD and DVD burner, I want speed and a large memory.... any suggestions???? |

My photo computer has all that, but its a "me made" computer. Check with your local computer store and see if they can put one together for you, or look at //www.newegg.com or //www.tigerdirect.com to see what they also.
edit to add:
A lot of the video cards now days have dvi input.

Chances are you will be able to take the video card off your old computer and put it in your new computer letting you use your Sony monitor. There might be some compatability issues with the type of slot that your video card can go into, but it's certainly easier trying to match the video card to the computer than trying to match the computer to the monitor. |

What kind of PC do you have now?
Why can't you upgrade your video card?
