No, you definatly have a right to an oppinion. We all do. I love some of Davids work in a pop way. He is definatly pop, but in a more offbeat fashion then most pop artists. The offbeat is what I like the most about his work.

Many artists have a style that is distinctly theirs..from songwriters/singers/bands to painters and designers. Photographers are no different. You can tell a U2 or REM song a mile away, for instance. Then again, not everyone likes those guys either. |

if you guys think this is sexual, there's a famous fashion photographer named Terry Richardson who, you could say, is very open with his photography. but he's one of the most sought for photographer in the fashion industry. another interesting point is that he uses two point and shoots to do his work, and often times the on-camera flash

his roster includes kate moss, steve-o, johnny knoxville, jake jillenhaul (sp?), pharrell, justin timberlake..etc. His fashion work is different than the rough portraits on his site. I love it all!
Edit: hmmm..just checked out his book "Kibosh" and I'm not such a fan of that stuff..but ya know, the other stuff is cool.

I just saw something by David Lachapelle in a movie theater that made me want to hurl. He did a 15 minute ad for H&M. I was forced to watch because I was in a movie theater.
It was some modern Romeo & juliet theme; I was happy when both Romeo and Juliet were shot because the singing stopped.
I am not a photographer but man this was so bad i had to say something.
I guess he was just doing it in jest to the corporate/ad world. |

Man I don't like this dude's work at all. It seems much more bland and predictable than any of Chapelle's work. It just seems like takes a p/s and gets the person to show a boob or do something weird. I almost feel like he tries to make ugly images. If that's his mission, he succeeded.
But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. |

I love David LaChapelle.
His music videos are awesome too?
Did anyone see "Rize" a documentary he did released early this year? It's really awesome and highly recommended! |

I love his "Declare Yourself" ad campaign where he literally muzzles the subjects with some extremely creative and realistic looking Photoshop work.
