I got this in an email from our son who works for the State of Texas.
I wish I could make it down there, but I have two shoots lined up for this weekend!
Quote:
Lights Out dusk till dawn Friday, September 9th.
On the evening of Friday, September 9, 2005, the City of Austin and
the BOMA Association has asked that the TBPC participate in the 9/11
Remembrance "Lighting of the Downtown Buildings" for photography.
The TBPC managed facilities will be participating. Once the custodial
staff have completed their work, by 11:00pm on Friday, they will shut
down all lights except for the TOP LEVEL of the building.
Could you please ensure if you have staff working in the facilities
after 11:00 pm, to please ask that they draw their blinds.
The most important time frame for lighting is between midnight Friday
until approximately 3:00 am or so. They will be taking pictures from the
top of the UT Engineering Building and from the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue on
Town Lake. They are waiting until midnight, to take the photos, to allow
every opportunity for late workers and janitorial crews to be able to
complete their work and hopefully vacate the buildings, so that they can be as
dark as possible. They hope to have a picture in Sunday's paper.
Please pass this information, on to your staff and we ask for your
assistance in allowing this to happen, as it shall be a great
remembrance to 9/11
