I can neither confirm nor disconfirm, but boy, that reeks of weirdness.

I was going to just question the same thing.
If it is valid I will be upgrading to a Rebel XT ASAP

Hmmmm - saw it, refreshed, now it's gone. I should have added to my shopping cart (and I'm a D70er), that was a good deal.

yup ... seems they fixed that quick :)

I wonder how many people ordered one.

The way I see it its still there...it couldn't hurt to try and buy one. When that $600 20D deal came up I payed for one of those but it turned out to be a mistake/scam and since the payments are through Amazon (safe buying guarantee and all that) they refunded the entire price. If you've got the money to cover it in the meantime, it might as well be worth a try :)

I would be careful with it. The seller has a good reputation. Lots of feedback, but I'm not sure if it's impossible to fake that. The thing that caught my eye was one recent comment about the seller:
"They wouldn't accept payment through Amazon wanted Western Union!"

This sounds like a scam to me. It's not uncommon for someone to hack a well-known seller's account and set up "outside of ebay/amazon" transactions like this that can't be traced back to anyone.

I failed to see any new XT for $500 on this link.

When I click that link in the center of the page I see:
28 used & new from $500.00

When I click on that and scroll down I see a new one listed by an individual "bar32" for $500.00.
