Ugh! I suspect another "shoe" challenge coming on. A lot of repetition and shots that meet the challenge, but have little else going for them. |

Mine's unique! Guaranteed!
(Will that get me a lot of 10's--doubtful. I'm predicting a 5.6)

...wait, are you saying you found the shoe challenge lacking in sole?

Mine's an actual branch, argh! But hey, there is something quite unique about it, and there's a story behind it, of course...
I'll go ahead & tell, as it won't give any clues, other than, it is an actual branch...
It was the winter of 1991 or 92, I forget. I went down to the Lake Placid area, New York, to help run a geophysics survey. It involved a lot of hiking through deep snow in the hilly middle of nowhere. I was carrying an electrode on the end of a long wire that ran all the way back to a base station to measure the Induced Polarization over a large, gridded area. Near the end of one of my traverses I found a beautiful log and made a mental note of its location. At the end of the survey that evening, I grabbed a saw from the ATV and hiked all the way back to it, sawed it off, and carried it all the way back to the ATV. Round-trip must have been about three or four kilometres, but I ws young & svelt. I brought it to the Hotel I was staying at, and eventually back over the border to Canada at the end of the survey.
That log (complete with branches), has spent close to 15 years following me around, and currently adorns our front porch.
I love my log, it is a thing of beauty. Please only give it tens.
:-D
This is a true story, no bs from me, for once.

"Svelt"?
;-)
(Great story! I too have many natural objects collected on trips that I move from one residence to another. I have not, however, tried to cross international lines with "organic material"--you rogue, you!)

Hehe, I was nearly tackled in an airport after my carry-on went through the x-ray machine. I had a football-sized stromatoporoid in it. It's sitting in the living room now.

Oops, needs an 'e' at the end. Nowadays I'm the opposite of svelte.

I enter one I don't really like that well. Testing my wrong picks theory. So if it does well, I'm screwed.

Love the log story. My husband found a broken off branch in my car yesterday and said "What's this?" I said "the latest challenge is 'branch.'" He said ne'ry a word after that. ROFL
Mine has a branch too but I bet NOBODY on earth has anything like mine. (HEE HEE HEE - try and guess if you can)
You'll either love it, laugh, or roll your eyes, all of which are ok by me. I'm staying up for the rollover. Who's in???? Judy |
