16hp of pure beer drinkin' fun.
I mean, with a seat belt you can drink 1/2 a case and not fall off...
I mean, pass me another brew.

Not until you mount the seatbelt; I see no evidence of one yet.

I have yet to figure out what to do with teh emtpies...tossing them about the yard gets messy. At times i wonder if i'll get a DUI, mowing and drinking in the front yard, on a state-owned road and all...gas is getting so expensive i may not be able to afford the beer to cut grass;)

Yours looks a tad tidier than ours!..
Kate (Wife) is jealous, as she figures yours probably starts without having to jump it off the truck. :-).

You know, when I was a third year medical student, I was doing a rotation in the ER. A man came in who's riding mower had rolled over on him. His leg was mangled. While he still had his foot, his calf muscle was almost completely gone; literally ripped from his leg. The attending saw me watching and said, "Who are you?"
"I am the third year medical student", I said.
"Come here. Put your fingers here. Do you you know what that is?"
"The popliteal artery?"
"Very good. Don't let go."
Needless to say, my hand was cramping from fear after a few minutes.
I'm not sure why that black and white picture made me think of that... |

because he is a crazy MoFo... and could very well have been seriously injured. if you try this at home have the mower blades off!!
actually on that mower all the safety kill switches are disabled. even more dangerous...

You know on lawn mowers there they say "do not stick you hand in to clear grass" while my mother did and one time just a hint to far and lost the tip of her finger. Just remembered that, it was years ago, but I remember her coming back into the house and having to make the call. |

I had a friend who was a very well-regarded ballerina, years ago. She was also a single mom. She removed a safety device from a power mower because "it was clogging", and a week later ran over her own right foot. End of performing career.
That dude "surfing" his mower is being incredibly stupid. Reprehensibly so, in fact. Sheesh.

I have to agree wholeheartedly with your comments Bear. I have seen so so many serious injuries caused by people playing games with machines.
I can just see this individual slipping, his left leg caught in the steering mechanism while his body dangles over the edge, his hands or arms or being run over by the cutting deck.
The shot is indeed funny since nothing untowards happened, but the consequences could have been tragic.
Just a thought.

well looks like i have a controversial photo... ;}
there are thousands of things people do daily that 'might' cause bodily injury. the fact is people get thrill from dangerous activities - surfing a mower is not much different than cliff diving, or hunting, or dirt bike riding, or skiing for that matter. not to say i am promoting the activity, just trying to put it in perspective. worrying about injury all the time isn't healthy either... sorry to hear about your friends mis-fortune. my father cut the tips of two fingers off with a push mower while changing the oil...

Perhaps I'm letting my closet granola through, but I bought me a state-of-the-art reel mower....on purpose. Yes, I can run over hoses with impunity; I can mow with my 5-year-old with only minor concern; I can have a conversation with someone while mowing; and no gas or pollution.
No, they aren't perfect. They do a poor job of edges since the blade is entirely within the wheelbase (I'm gonna lay a row of brick around the lawn). They also have problems with supertall grass so you have to keep the cutting up. But I have a smaller patch of grass which only takes 20 minutes anyway. |
