This is a weird one. It might take a bit of coordinating, but I think it would be fun.
To participate, you send a designated coordinator a photo that needs a lot of work (bad photo). After your upload completes, the coordinator RANDOMLY picks a photo that someone else uploaded (without looking at the shots so they don't bias it).
Now that you have the "bad" photo in hand, your job in the challenge is to postprocess it so that it's good enough to win a ribbon under free-study type rules.
Advanced editing rules apply. Not free-for-all editing! :)
By participating, you acknowledge that the person who recieves your photo has the rights to modify it, and all rights to the final version that they created. Since everyone who sends a photo receives a photo, it's a trade of sorts, and everyone's even.

only problem with that is there are some photos that just can't be recovered very well. If it's underexposed thats one thing but if it's blown out there simply is no information there. I think the coordinator needs to look at the images and see if the image is saveable. Mabey then hand it off to a second coordinator after the first one has taken all the images that are just not savable out and then the second one can assign the images.
I hope that makes sense...
another thought, if this doesn't become a challenge we can do it on the forums. pm me if you want to do it that way, we can talk more about getting it done. I think this would be alot of fun and it's at least worth a try |

Thanks Topher. I think that would work too.
As to having it in a thread--we already have these kind of threads, I just thought it would be fun making it a challenge, with the luck of the draw as to what image you get (hopefully all pretty bad), and only your PS skills to save it (and you).

Why don't you just give it trial run, like in this thread. Set some rules and go for it. Good learning for me and others. I am sure there are some people on this site no how run some random numbers. set a deadline and try it. If they don't use it for a challenge at least we can play. Just an ideal? |

Different, because we would all be looking at the same one over and over..like when someone looking to correct one.
We could just use are portfolios to comment and vote

I'd like to play.
But, I'm leaving the country on Tuesday for a week, but if you get me a picture tomorrow or saturday then I still have a couple of days to dabble with it.
Or I can play in round two when I come back?
If I'm not allowed to play, then I can still donate a crappy photo that needs to be saved.
Let me know in the next day or two!!!!
thanks
