I am hooked to this "grungy" effect. As a result, here are some portraits I did with this effect:

And here are some of my D & L Out-takes. This lady was not in my entry. She's Kik, a Senior student in our school.

Thank you so much for viewing them.

Gorgeous photos, Manny. Did you just use the plugin, or did you come up with your own steps to create these effects? Regardless, the results are great.

There was a forum about the "grunge" effect by Leslie (goodman) and Peter (pedro). I also studied their pictures. I can't remeber what i did exactly but the noise was added using "Noise" in Photoshop. The colors were manipulated using curves/saturation/selctive colors/color balance....I can't remember how now...

how did you light the face in your shot DREAMS?

Window light in my classroom. I turn off the lights inside so that my only source of light is the window.
Photoshop took care of the rest.

I created duplicate layer...used diffused glow...add layer mask and brush off some part that are overexposed (revealing the original color from the lower layer). I then used clone to even up some imperfection.

And btw for those interested in ENIGMA, here's the original shot.

Interesting transformation, isn't it? I guess I couldn't replicate what I did.:)

I think you are afraid to give up your secrets, but I don't blame you because I am the same. LOL

LOL....Secrets or no secrets, I really can't remember what I did. You know that moment when you just moved on and on and marvelled at how much the image had transformed. I am glad I did it on abigger file as normally, I retouched a smaller format to make it a lot faster.

And by the way Sonifo...what did you do in that "PEACE" shot? I will study your work and eventually discover your secrets.:))) Watch out.LOL

Manny-I was trying to find that USM Photoshop action that was listed along with a tutorial by the image you did of a woman drying tobacco leaves or something. I was also trying to find that photo itself but it seems to have dissapeared as well.

Is that info/photo around somewhere? I've seen that "action" in a number of places on the net that I can't seem to find these days?

Any help would be cool.

Hi Steve! Here's the link. Once you are on that page, look at the workshop (of Luko).

I'm actually glad to hear that this is not just the work of a simple Plugin or Action, but the efforts of someone with a creative vision who is willing to take the time to turn his images into something truly spectacular. Nice work, Manny. :-) Until then, the available downloads are a great place for people like me to start figuring out how to do this stuff on our own.

Manny-Thank you so much. Dried Mango leaves....? Tobacco?

I was close. LOL.

I'm digging the grunge btw. Curious about the process on a few of those images.

Cheers!
