The first Yooper GTG was a towering success, every known Yooper DPCer was in attendance. If you're a Yooper (resident of Michigan's Upper Peninsula) and missed the GTG please post here and tell us of our error and of your absence.

The GTG was at Presque Isle, in Marquette. Since it's quite late now I'll post only one photo now and more tomorrow; I urge all other attendees to contribute with some of their photos.

We came across some young ladies cliff diving. Just before they were about to take the plunge we politely asked if they could hold off for a minute so DPCers could scramble into photographically interesting places. When all were set we gave the signal and off they went. This is one of a few shots, mildly processed. I'll show off the unprocessed tomorrow to see which is liked better.

As always comments are appreciated but not mandatory :)

I had a great time at the first Yooper GTG!! Meeting alfresco was a pleasure.

Now to the flying girl pics - I think his are going to be way better than mine as I really like the first one he posted - but here is one of mine with just a small amount of level and crop.

Very cool! What a neat little find.. at first I assumed you had convinced to get a DPC member to jump off! lol

Sweet shots! I'm not an original Yooper but I have family there and have been there a few times. I went to a sweet cliff diving spot as well and will be there again this weekend!

this cliff is on Presque Isle. It's a popular spot for cliff jumpers.

And another.

This was taken before the cliff diving ladies. Just a small spit jutting into Lake Superior. I'm not yet sure if I like it, please let me know what you think.

Kalin if you're ever in the area and want to shoot just get in touch!

As to the cliff divers, if the girls had not been present I would have gladly volunteered to find someone to jump :) With only two Yooper DPCers it would not have been advantageous angle-wise to have either one of us jumping and not covering both the high ground and the low ground.

alfresco - I kinda like it...looks IR. Your other shots posted so far look good too.
Did the shot of the cyclist coming down the road at us turn out?

Had the girls not been diving,we might have talked the two guys bird watching into jumping!

Linda,

That shot is v e r y movement oriented - I'll put it up later today. And I'm pretty sure the bird guys would have loved to jump in for our us!

Here's one of Superior. Not the best of shots, but it'll do for now.

If anybody has any comments please don't hesitate!

The much anticipated runner-approaching. The fun is in counting the number of images I was able to get on one exposure :)

Looking back on some of my photos, I came up with one idea I did not think to carry out when we are on our GTG - so I went back the next day to take the shot as I was in Marquette for my near disasterous physical anyhow. Here is another perspective of the stairs - I love stairs.

I also decided to take another of the light house and break wall as I was not happy with the one I took the day before. Here is the latest on that:

I'm really looking forward to our next GTG when the fall colors come out! Paul (politically incorrect on DPC) is hoping to join us. Maybe we can get Kaups to come up for a visit and join in the fun.

Nice redos! You had some nice light there.

Bad physical?!? Hopefully they didn't find anything bad?!?

While you were in Mqt I was in Baraga installing my new washer/dryer and happily doing laundry (the joy of laundry will soon end. Very soon.) In between new appliance fun I've been playing with the divers a little more (never happy with color, crop, clouds, cyans, etc)

When the time comes we should make an all out call for a UP color-tour GTG.

Holy crap no way! I was at Presque Isle! I stayed in Negaunee! I wanted to climb Sugarloaf at sunrise but I wasn't motivated enough to wake up on my vacation there. I was on the far northern part of the island and I can't wait to go back. It was fun getting action shots there as we had about 40 people there. Small world, eh?

Awww shux! The family and I just took a road trip last month from our home near Cincy to the UP, up to Copper Harbor, back down and across to Deluth, and then back through Escanaba and across to the Mack and back home.

I love the UP. We hope to move there someday. :) I'm glad y'all had fun.
