Well, another weekend and another fair. Please let me know what you think, and/or how you would improve these. I played with borders today to see if I like them (I'm usually borderless).

If you're not bored by these I'll cull others. Thanks!!

Improve? No I think I will just say how great they look and ask a silly question, how do you get these shots so sharp? I have an Olympus E-1 and I do not seem to be able to compare with what you are shooting. Now I am assuming you have just uploaded these images without using an un-sharp mask or anything, but I will say this, even using an un-sharp mask in Elements I can not come up with such sharp images. Now is it me, my auto focus or my lack of editing skill which has put me here. Any help would be appreciated.

I love all these shots. Something about horses in action which captures me. I am including one of my better shots from today with this post, comments would be greatly appreciated.

The image I attached is only directly converted and shrunk from a RAW image shot on my Olympus e-1 with a 50-200mm lens with the 1.4 tele-converter.

Thanks
Michael

Michael, thanks for the vote of confidence.

I started the morning using the 50mm, then changed up to the kit lens for a couple of shots, then traded up to the 70-300. It was bright enough to be able to get fast shutter speeds. I'm of the opinion the 70-300 isn't as sharp as I want it, but I guess it does the job.

Most of the shots were AF, which meant that I have a lot of captures of the race to the line where the focus is the background. It was a learning experience all around.

All images been UMSed to some degree.

I think your photo is very sharp and you have some good dof going on.

I'll usually do two passes at USM, both small amounts. I do more the first pass (100 1 1) less the second (~40, 1, 1), you may want to try that. There are probably other better methods with USM; if so someone should shout out.

I'd have applied some NeatImage, but I've literally just installed CS2 and have yet to put NI on the box.

Thanks for the input!
