I'd like to get a camera that I can keep in my purse for when I can't haul my D70 around. Any recommendations? Features I'd like include:

-Small as possible
-Real viewfinder (I hate shooting on LCDs with the camera held out in front of me, so through the lens would be ideal but seems unlikely, so maybe a mini LCD viewfinder like my old C-2100, but I'd settle for anything I can at least put up to my eye)
-Decent pixel count (maybe 4MP or more)
-Easy to access manual controls (I will be very unhappy if I can't control shutter speed and aperture. I know it wont be an SLR, so they wont be nice little dials, but I at least don't want to have to go through 1000 submenus to get into a manual mode).

Any recommendations would be most appreciated.

I bought my wife a Canon SD300 and carry it myself sometimes. It does not meet all your requirements but it is a very good ultra small camera that takes great pictures.

Anyone else?

A canon along those lines had been my initial thought. I used a friends once, and was impressed with it for the most part, but didn't have time to try to find the manual mode, so I'm curious how easy it is to get to those controls and if their are any other brands I should consider.

Canon A85 or A95. Manual modes are just as easy on it as they are on a DSLR, except manual focus (pain in the @$$ to use).

I think I can live without good manual focus control. It was a pain on my old Olympus, but never hindered me much. It's more the shutter speed and aperture that I want to control manually.

I'm very happy with my canon powershot A80 although the viewfinders a little small, i dont' really think you'll be finding many smaller cameras with large viewfinders

my fav P-n-S is the panasonic with the lieca lens-- great zoom and lens with 2.8 f takes great shots little noisy but apparently the newer model is less so.
