Here's a bunch of package sales from Cameta Camera. Are any of these good? (I bought my FZ20 from them and didn't have any problems with their store at all. I bought directly from them though, not through ebay.)

Don't know about the deal, but I bought my D70 package through their Ebay store and had no problems. They didn't even try any of the upsell nonsense that many NY stores are known for. |

cpanaioti, thanks for fixing the link! They were great to work with when I bought my FZ20 from them. I figured some of the stuff I probably wouldn't want, but wondered about the extra battery, memory card, if the lens was ok, etc. Right now, I'm just checking around trying to see where I can get a good price. |

Do you know if the extra battery, memory cards, and the lens are good ones? Is the lens one that will give nice sharp/clear images?

Is it the 17-85 lens your asking about?
Memory card appears to be a microdrive. If it were me, I would stay away from microdrives. They are quite fragile and can be damaged if dropped. Also, I would go with a few smaller CF cards rather than one large card. If the large card fails you lose everything whereas if one of the smaller cards fails you still have the rest.
Batteries can be purchased cheaply elsewhere so I wouldn't consider the extra battery as any value added unless it's basically been thrown in at no extra cost.
Some of the pkgs include a CF card (50x) - don't know about the brand eFilm. They are probably worth about $50 - 75 US. The 20D can handle faster cards as can any USB 2.0 card reader. As a start it may be adequate but plan to invest in a faster card.

Yeah, it was the 17-85 I was asking about. Hmmm, sounds like I'd be better off getting batteries from somewhere else and better memory cards. I'm not familiar with the type memory card that the 20D uses at all. My FZ20 uses a different kind. |

Sandisk and Lexar are the best known name brands. Some people have had problems with the 80x Lexar Pro cards.
Sandisk Ultra II (~65x) and Sandisk Extreme (~80x?) and Extreme III (133x) are options.
As far as the lens goes I can't help you. Fred Miranda might have a review but hopefully someone here who has the lens can help.

Cameta is here on Long Island (NY) and has a good local reputation although I must confess that I have never used them. They have long been active in the used and classic market but I would venture to guess that since that market has largely moved to Ebay, they have decided to join instead of fight.
In general the "package deals" generally require you to take alot of things or specific brands/models of ancilliary things that you normally wouldn't. I would carefully evaluate whether you want or need the package items. |

It nice to know they have a good reputation. They were great the first time that I used them. I'm thinking I'd probably be better off not doing the package then. (My FZ20 uses the sandisk.) |

I bought my Nikon 12-24 f4 with no problems. Quick shipment, etc. But more importantly I bought a refurbished Nikon 500mm f8N, and decided to return it. They gave me no static and promply credited my credit card. I also realized that I forgot to return the instructions with the lens, and they told me not to worry about it. |
