Well,

I've gone and done it. Submitted my first pic into "Shoes"!

I hope your not goimg to be too hard on me - I'll watch the comments for feedback though!

I know I won't get an update button as a non paid member, but do I get to see my scores at the end?

Cheers,
AL

Your scores will be updated every hour, so don't worry, you'll get addicted in no time ;-)

Congratulation. The first time is the hardest :). Don't worry about your score, it's for fun after all. Also, don't take comments too personal and take the opportunity to improve yourself.

You will get to see the scores on the main page on the left frame under your picture every one hour. Also if you click on your picture then you will be able to read the comments that you might have recieved.

This is when the voting starts next wednesday.

Your scores should show up as a thumb when you hit MY Home. You can also go into preferences and get rid of the score updates until the end, if you find yourself getting to upset with the scores. I do not haunt my score because it begins to affect how I score a challenge, so I do not look at the scores until the challenge is done. I also have the commenters names hidden so I won't be compelled to send them private messages during the challenge. It is only for my own peace of mind.

Welcome to the insanity! :) Don't take the scoreing to hard at first. This is place where you can learn and achieve photograghic skills as time goes by. Believe me, I suck at a few, gotten better with others. Yet, still learning as we all do on here. I hope you enjoy your update button! It will be come part of you...:)

Congrats! It can be a big first step (toward addiction).

The hourly update is like the slow drip of an i.v.
The first time you see your score you get a rush--there it is!
Then as the initial high settles in a bit you begin to think--am I happy about this score? Only x number of votes in the first hour?! And no, I am not happy with this score...

At 12:55 a.m. you will have your head in the monitor waiting for the next fix. You will by 1:000001 a.m. have made the maximum number of screen refreshes possible within a 10 second interval.
You will not be happy with your score.
You will not be happy with the voters.
You may have 1 comment--you may not be happy with that comment.

Sometime, mid-week, you'll wake up in the middle of the night from a restless sleep. You'll glance at the clock 2:57 a.m. You'll get up to go to the bathroom, and while you're up, you'll think, it couldn't hurt to peek, just a little glimpse to check on your score....

Depending on the patient's propensity for addiction these symptoms may appear more frequently and in increasing intensity. Side-effects can last for weeks or months causing the patient to wander the local area in search of the meaning of "image." Ironically, the self-image of the patient may be degraded during this process. Other symptoms include, sleepless nights, the inability to power-down the computer, increased reading and posting in the forums prior to hourly updates and late on Tuesday evenings.

The prescription recommendation is to provide the patient (user) with a subscription including an update button. Self-administration of the update alleviates some of the anxiety and allows the patient to return to the real world on a more frequent basis. Patients with the update button have even been known to remain in the room for the answer to the final Jeopardy questions.

Please note: There is a known cure. However, the methods necessary to achieve a "cure" are drastic and violent. Once patients have entered into the update addicition, it is recommended to allow them to peacefully pursue their quixotic lives.
