I have an editing package that I bought at Best Buy, and I was wondering if anybody else uses it and how it compares to Photo Shop. It was actually pretty inexpensive. Cost me about $100.00. Also, can we use more than one editing program on a challenge entry?

Have not heard of Photo Impact by Nova - but I have used PhotoImpact 10 by ULEAD. I was a faithful PhotoImpact user up until a couple months ago when I decided it was time to learn how to use PhotoShop 7.0 which was sitting idle on my hard drive. I am so happy I finally gave PS a whirl. I hardly ever use PhotoImpact now.

As for using more than one software for a challenge - as long as you are staying within the challenge rules it should not be a problem.

I have been using Ulead Photo Impact since version 4 (many years) I have downloaded Version 10 on my work PC and I m giving it a whirl. I currently have Photo Impact XL. so far not many differances between the 2.

I find the Ulead Products easier to work with than Photo shop. But Photo SHop is the industry standard for a reason. Its a fine program and has lots of horse power, but for a lot of people its too much power.

I prefer simple edits and I dont do a whole lot with layers and such which PS excels at. Im just now experimenting with layers in the Ulead Products.

For the Money Ulead products are a fine second place to Photo Shop and I feel is about the best bang for your buck for image editing.

Same here...I don't know about Nova, I use PhotoImpact10 by ULead and find that there are very few things PhotoShop can do that PhotoImpact can't. The problem is figuring out how to do it in PI when reading a tutorial or workflow written for PhotoShop. If you have questions on how to do something in PI, PM me and I will be glad to help.

Been using this since it first came out. Layers are a snap once you know how to do it in PI. All other editing functions are pretty much equal. PS comes with more filters and effects, but PI can use most of them. Actions no, filters and plug-ins yes.

Actually, the Ulead is part of the name, but the company that is listed on the manual is Nova. I am sure it is the same program.

ok I think Photo impact Pro 10 is much different that Ulead Photo Impact (whic is what I have). Maybe the pro version is a spin off of the Regular UleadPhot Impact. you know the developer left Ulead but maintained nameing rights and created a more robust version and called it PRO.
