The DOF is so shallow on the sign that when I look at the 'g' in parking it appears (optical illusion) to be moving back in forth. |

no by points of light i mean points of light. The FIRST thing he says in the article is "Bokeh describes the rendition of out-of-focus points of light." Obiously there is light hitting the sensor that is not a point of light. All that light is called backround blur. The points of light are called bokeh. There is a difference.

Then perhaps you misunderstand the meaning or he has worded the intro poorly.
Here is an example of outstandig bokeh that has little to do with percieved points of light.

This is another example of what i consider pleasing bokeh. Though the blured shapes are a bit wiry and not at thier optimum for what would be consider ideal, the overal effect is very pleasing.

ay-yi-yi...i remember all the debating and defining and teeth-gnashing over the definition of bokeh from the challenge
