Okay, I'm new to all this, but I'm trying to get a job as a campus photographer at my college, and the department head has asked to see a portfolio of my work.
Is there a proper format for this? Is it just printed 4x6s in a small album, or is there a better, more professional way to do it?
You guys are the experts...please, help! Comments and advice desperatly needed!

I'm not, but if you want to see anything bigger it's going to cost you.

you're going to want to show them some good photojournalism style shots and probably have a few 5x7's of your good ones.

I'm not sure about a photojournalism portfolio, but for what it's worth here's something that I did that turned out great. I just made a portfolio of some of my favorite stuff just to show people. Costco has some nice leather 12x12" "scrapbooks" that work great as a portfolio (sounds cheesy, but they're nice), and they're only 12.99 for 2. The one I got is black leather with a 3 1/2 x 5" window in front where I made a nice b/w print with my name and contact info on it. I had a mixture of 26 8x10's and 8x12's printed up and put them in there. There's 12 plastic sleeves in each book so that gives you 24 working pages and you can take some out of the other one if you need more, or take some out for less. There's a white page separator in each sleeve that you can mount your photos to as well. Again, I'm not sure about what a photojournalism portfolio looks like, but imo I think 4x6 might be kinda small to really show your stuff off. I would go at least 5x7, and they're only 78 cents each here on DPCPrints.

-just my 2 bits, good luck with your book.

Thanks Telehubbie! This is what I was looking for. Think you're right, 4x6 is a bit too small. I'm going out this afternoon and see if I can find a book like you described.
