Do you guys write down or have some organized way of tracking your post processing steps? I look back at my photos and wonder what steps I did.

I have many RAW files that I post process in Photoshop CS 2, but just wondering if there is a way to track it.

Thanks.

If you do EVERYTHING on its own level, and name each level descriptively, you can pretty well keep track. It's also possible to append notes to the file, so you can list details of post processing there, such as actual numericla values of USM used on the "sharpen" layer, for example. I'm too lazy to do that most of the time, but it's beter than taking notes by hand.

You have a Preference in PS or PS2 or, I think even Elements, that will write your steps INTO your metadata, INTO a file on your HD, or both. I opt for the file and then every month I open it, save with a different name, wipe it clean and let it start again (the files can get big, and hard to look through or find things.)

Edit: OH yes...you can make this concise or DETAILED also, which puts everything in there (very big files).
I don't choose to put it into the metadata, since I don't want the files to be larger than they really need to.
