What CNN does or doesn't tell you is irrelevent. This is DPC, not a news service. |
I'm not sure I understand...It's also not a gettogether service, a mentorship service, a joke service, a flash-game service, a political discussion service, a camera sales service, a nikon/canon debate service, etc.
What's your point? |

Oh you guys, c'mon!
The "korean dog eaters" were almost sent to jail by yall cz it was "gross".
But this is just a bit "too much". It's just of bad taste!
There are some african tribes that do (did) this, but then, they don't have the all-mighty cameras to "freeze it in time" as if it was a trophy of some sort! This is just some asshole trying to show off.
Blind ppl can't see the beatuies of this world, but on the other hand, they are blessed. They don't get to see the atrocities that surrounds us every single freakin' day! |

i hate to get thrown in the cooker w/ thatcloudthere, but there is now a content warning on it. is showing a picture of a murdered body any less immorral?
i guess i only jump in because i saw 'city of god' for the first time last night and it shows the far end spectrum of photojournalism. so in a way i'd say it is related to dpchallenge, there is pictures that im sure you guys kept scrolling down to look at. its human nature to be curious, that doesn't mean you have to agree with whats going on in the world.

That's funny...
So yeah, if this was labelled photojournalism and the photo credit read "Photo by Antonin Kratochvil" would it be more acceptable?
And is this a hoax or not??
I already feel like an idiot about the mars thing. And I consider myself slightly intelligent, too. At least I used to.

This is an old hoax, and some information can be found at snopes.com. |
THANK YOU TYCHO.
The rest of you, please just click on the snopes.com link and read about what this really was: a performance art piece.
To the first poster on this thread ... I suppose I can just chalk this up to the idea that ignorance and stupidity rule supreme in the internet age, and taking things out of context can be a powerful way of stirring up people.

It might be a hoax, but the Snopes article wouldn't be enough to convince me. It is based on a single image. I'd be more interested in seeing an explanation of how they faked all of those images. I'm sure it's possible, though seems like an awful lot of work. If it's hoaxed, there must be a very interesting back story.
P.S. Are we saying that snopes.com is the ultimate authority on the truth? If we're going to question journalism, we probably should question all sources other than a select few.

Didn't say I believed it. Personally, I'm more inclined to believe it's not true. What I said was that I try not put all my faith into a single source of journalism (especially with all this talk about media bias). There are a lot examples throughout history where truths were dismissed as hoaxes for the sake of manipulating others. I try to be as objective as possible.

Sorry, you misunderstood. Somebody said something about using CNN to find out more about the world and I just pointed out that CNN isn't the best place for that. It had nothing to do with justification of this thread.
As for pushing topics on people, I urge you to be the filter for your own eyes as I'm not really up to the task. |

The ignore button isn't necessary. You can just choose not to open the thread and you wouldn't even have to announce it to everyone.

Perhaps you should spend some time examining your political opponents positions rather than assigning positions to them. You would write better informed opinions and be taken more seriously. |

If anybody should be able to realize what is possible in photoshop.. it should be the people here!

Just do a search for man eating baby and you will get all of the sources you nned. in fact the BBC even aired a documantary on the artist and his work!
"British TV station to show man eating dead baby
Britain's Channel 4 television, which recently broadcast the country' s first public autopsy for 170 years, is to show a Chinese artist eating the flesh of a dead baby.
The bizarre act will be shown in a documentary called "Beijing Swings" , which looks at extreme practices of Chinese artists, according to The Guardian newspaper on Monday.
The programme, to be shown on British screens late Thursday, also shows a man drinking wine that has had an amputated penis marinaded in it.
"The programme will be controversial and will shock some viewers but a warning ... "
