Hi
For those of you who are pro's at PS...can you help me get rid of the shadow across my son's face in this shot??? Thanks!

(note that it took me only 30 seconds to edit the post with the photo...and I got TWO roasts in that period of time! Sheesh...give a girl a break already! Haha!

MUCH better! Thanks a bunch! I'm PS-challenged (hoping to take a class soon)...all I managed to do was erase his face! Thanks for your help!!

I could sit there and monkey with it for days, but generally, here is how I approah these issues - The shadow is too dark to just dodge or selectively lighten. Since the photo is a straight on face shot and the right side of his forehead is unobstructed, I just copy a large chunk of that side, copy/paste to new layer, ALT+E+A+H (flip horizontal), move over the area and use a feathered eraser around the edges. I actually had to take a few "skin grafts" and touch up with eraser and adjust the transparency of that layer til it's about right, merge down, dodge and burn at about 10% here & there.
Hope this was helpful. I work very fast and am not great at slowing down to consider documenting how I did anything. :) |

wow...burning, skin grafts...how long is it going to take for him to recover? Will he be in the hospital long? haha! Seriously, though, I would have never thought to use the method you describe here. Thanks for your input!

No worries, I always take lots of anesthesia before I begin an operation like this.
