I was wondering, is there a way to have an image of mine taken off the site that was in a challenge? It is an older challenge. If so, how would I go about doing it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm nobody official, but in the past when this has come up it's been said that removal of challenge entries probably won't happen because it will mess up the database and screw with the statistics of the challenges...

If the challenge is over, there's nothing you can do about it. However, according to the rules, if a photo is in the voting process and you're not happy with it, you can request a "self-dq" but it's not recommended. Refer to the rules for more information.

It may be possible for them to remove the image by replacing it with a blank image.

But I can't imagine the SC would expend the time unless there was a serious reason.

"It was an old pick and I hate it and it's low score keeps pulling my average down!" is NOT a good reason.

*shrug*

Request a DQ and never send an original.

We have a strict rule that we do not remove old entries, they are a part of the challenge record, and woudl change the results if removed. there are only a few, extreme instances where images need to be removed. As previously posted, you do have the right to request a self-DQ while the challenge is in process, if you have not been DQ'd (or elected a self-DQ) in your past 25 entries.

The OP is talking about a challenge that is already over...I don't think it's possible to request a DQ after voting is over, is it?

Sure it is. If you have information-after-the-fact that leads you to believe the image is invalid (you saw an old posting of it, for example, that predates the challenge) then you can bring this to the attention of SC.

I think, anyway...

It sure is possible. I saw an image after the challenge was over and noticed editing was done against the rules. I requested a DQ and it was DQ'ed.

This kind of abuse is why the DQ penalty system was put in place. It's a real shame that people "work the system" this way.

Hey kirbic, I am going to PM you on the situation. If it is too much hassel, I guess it will need to stay put.

James - Don't know that you were being called out directly as an abuser. I think what Kirbic was trying to say is that what you suggested (Request a DQ and not send the original) is a way that some people could try to "pad" their numbers. If they didn't like the voting results just "get it DQ'd". Therefore the loophole has been closed somewhat by putting the penalties in place for having an image DQ'd.

Never once did I say I abused it?????????????

The guy seems to want an image removed for good reason and you can't do it? Seems the only way unless you guys are nice enough to comply. But I sure do hate it when people put words in my mouth.
