I saw there was an almost full moon out last night, so I went in, set up the tripod and all things necessary....dragged it outside and looked up into the sky to see no moon! %$#* clouds :)
Later, a little after midnight, I saw the moon was back, so I took my setup out again and got these.
The leaves in front of the moon I did in 2 way - first is blownout in high velocity style (is that the term?) - and one less so, but I like the high version.
Then I have a regular moon shot.

I got a picture a couple nights ago. Used the H1 with 1.7 x conversion lens. There was a slight haze but not enough to hurt the picture. Next I'll be trying a Diga-T adapter to securely fit the camera to an eyepiece and use my refractor. I have a small 80 mm scope that should be perfect. papagei, nice pictures you have there. The Moon is a wonderful subject to photograph.

We had a "harvest" moon here in Michigan USA, but by they time I went out to take some snaps, it was behind the trees and I couldn't get a clear shot. All I got for my efforts were mosquito bites! Ugh! :)

Did anyone else notice that the shots from papagei and Incarlight are the same side of the moon, only titled slightly different? I think that is so cool, seeing as how one was shot in Kansas and one in Sweden!

Ah ... the mystery of nature is dumbfounding ...

Edit for wrong photographer ...

The same side of the Moon is always pointed at Earth..

OK ... So I'm an idiot ... :) These in particular looked so much alike, that it could have been from the same place. I would have sworn that the moon rotates as well ... Guess I wasn't paying that much attention during solar system lessons! LOL

Hehe, your not an idiot at all, very few people actually realise that the moon always shows us the same face. It does rotate but the speed of rotation matches the speed of orbit, so we only ever see one side.

Funny, I took a passable shot of the moon the other night too.

But it's not Harvest Moon, which is in September. It's Sturgeon Moon in August. ;-)

Followed by a Hunter's Moon in October :)

LadeeM - I noticed the difference in tilt as well.

We have clouds again, so no moon shot tonight :(

The Moon is right in the window behind my computer monitor right now. I'm feeling to lazy and have to get to bed for work tomorrow cause I'm getting to old to stay up late. It's a shame that the next few days weather report is for clouds and possible rain. The good news is the Moon will always be there.

Pug-H is correct - September is the month of the harvest moon, and also the month of my birth - born on Sept.16th. Just thought I would let everyone know so you have time to take up a collection for a nice lens as my gift. ;-)

edited for my usual typo

Just post it in your profile and open it - copy the number in the header on the top of the page ... then when you go to post click the box above the message box with the two squares (far right) and paste the number in the pop up box
