Two third place finishes today - one here and one in The Great Slippy Challenge. I need help. |
Geeze, Brad; you're not even CLOSE to me in the "get a life" category... I am 1,2,4,1 in 4 of the categories, and only saved from total ignominy by my 47th (out of 60 ranked, I think) in the length-of-membership category.
I'm shaking my head in amazement here. And someone else pointed out, quite correctly (as I'm sure SDW would agree) that this ranking relates to quantity, not quality. If we've learned anything, it's that people from San Diego make a lot of noise...

You're just 10 years older, and have 10 years less of a life than me.
LOL
The way I look at it, I'm gonna' get my $25/yr out of this place

Actually, its fish.
On another note, I am in the top 10! Makes up for my abysmal score in the Live Music Challenge. I have nothing in the rain challenge which is probably a good thing the way I've been doing lately. :)

An interesting metric would be exclude 'Joined date', and make "Challenges Entered" as the seniority rating, and calculate others accordingly. This would give a 'share ratio' similar to bittorrent.

Some things I would like to see added into the spreadsheet:
- Number of Godzilla pics
- Threads Crashed
- Villages Burned
- Hours spent here(as a percentage of your lifetime) |

I haven't read the entire thread, but I'm sure I'd be somewhere near the bottom if you ever add me (which I don't expect, considering the overwhelming response this thread seems to have received) to the list.. but here it goes:

Question to all:
Put the following categories in the order that you find to be the most important in site participation.
1. Challenge Entries
2. Votes Cast
3. Comments Made
4. Forums Posted
BTW...when can we expect the latest addition to the enquirer? |

the site would not function without challenges, people entering challenges and people voting on challenges. Hence my number 1 and 2 choices.
- oh btw ken when is the latest issue of the enquirer coming out? if you need help im sure there a tons and tons of people, chits and squirells out there to lend you a hand.

Very complicated formula system taking up 26 columns of formulas in MS Excel. I think I have a formula that is about as fair as possible and would like to test it.
I would like to see if there are any volunteers that would like to see what there Site Participation Rating (SPR)is. I need about 20 users to volunteer.
If you would like to volunteer provide the following information in this thread.
1. Your Registration/Membership date (the earlier of the two)
2. Number of challenges entered
3. Number of votes cast
4. Number of comments cast
5. Number of forum post
I will post the SPR Chart when I compile the data.
Chart from the first 20 that posted. I will continue to add others that posted today.

are you one of those people that walk around at work with a clipboard in your hand taking notes or peoples actions then print up a spreadsheet and give it to the booss to see how much work is actually getting done during work hours?
because if you are, way to go snitch!!

I'd flip 1 & 2 (a LOT of the most helpful "comments" are in-depth forum posts) except that i don't see anyway to winnow out "useful" posts from "social" posts (make a lot of both kinds, myself). I don't see "challenges entered" as the highest priority simply because we have too many entries anyway, according to a lot of people. For me the value of the site is in the interaction and feedback, the "educational" and (yes) the "social" milieu in which we immerse ourselves. Voting, it seems to me, is more important than entering challenges because it, too, is a form of feedback or commentary.
What I wonder about is whether length of time as a member is a meaningful category, in terms of assigning it a ranking. I can see you need to have the DATA point, so you can pro-rate participation in terms of length-of-membership, but I don't see much point in RATING it, unless I'm missing something? Your 5 ratings include 4 with "meaning" and 1 that's just an arbitrary number...

Well, just look at me for example.. I rate 3rd or 4th up from LAST PLACE.. simply because of the length of time I've been registered, but would you honestly consider me a complete non-entity when it comes to site participation?
hehe. Ahhh.. numbers.. they say so much, yet mean so little.

Right. Like all statistics this one is of limited usefulness. The way it's set up someone who comments on EVERY challenge entry with "nice shot" and makes TONS of forum posts of a purely social nature would score higher than someone like you, who comments/posts far less frequently but usually intelligently and usefully.

Did we read the title (Just 4 fun)
This is no more accurate than the comments made to comments helpful stat in our portfolio. Every stat on dpc is scewed in one way or another. Even our Scores.

Can we have a bottom 30 so I can be on one?
