I suggested that awhile back, but was shot down by "the man" ;-) |
As long as you're only blaming the men at this site, I'm cool with that!
:-}
Maybe it is time. DQ's are most for rules violations that are measurable. You used this filter or that selection tool... Someone above said the difference between one currency shot and another was that in the one someone had arranged the 4 bills into a "collage"--well, isn't a collage artwork? Lots of fuzzy lines here and no paid lawyers or District Attorneys.
On the other hand...(you did expect another hand, didn't you?)
On the other hand...how do the participants on this site discourage shots of computer monitors, someone's drawing, or other 2-D items?
Or, to put it another way (What? You didn't know I had 3 hands?)
To put it in the positive, how do we encourage challenge participants to develop their camera skills? Light. Shadow. Reflection. Framing. Depth of Field. Length of exposure. You know, the traditional things that the "art" of photography has in its arsenal... Sure, there are challenges that are about these "camera" skills...but gosh it sure would be boring here if we couldn't also have challenges that were subject oriented with the assurance that someone wouldn't just enter the Mona Lisa in a portrait challenge.
Damn! I'm so conflicted (and multi-handed) in this place! |
