I've read threads about this before so just wanted to give a shout out to Allstate Insurance for being so lax that it all works in my favor. Insurance for $10k worth of gear is about $60 a year. They didn't care what I used it for. And home insurance is costing me $100 a year. CND folks.

Cheap like Borscht.

This whole time I've been putting it off 'cause of the nightmares i read on here.

I'm with Allstate here in Ottawa and it's costing me $90/year for $8000.00 CDN. No fair! :-)

That's a pretty general statement there ;-) My aunt and uncle have used Allstate for multiple hurricanes in Florida and have never had a problem.

...but back to the thread...

I have insurance with Allstate on my equipment also - it's $30.00 a year, and I think it's for 6 or 7 grand worth.

My agent is a wee bit creepy and a far bit off the wall, but no one will give me cheaper insurance. Esp. not car insurance. Note-to-self (or anyone else who may ever get in a motorized vehicle with me): I'm a bad driver.

Maybe I'm not looking in the right places, but every place I have tried locally wants a complete list (won't replace a CF card with the camera if it wasn't listed) and ask 1-2.5 cents on the dollar. Comes to quite a lot of money.

I had to list all of my equipment including photos and serial #s.
