I would like a museum, or a zoo. Something with lots of different things to photograph for different people ...
Malls are fun, but people tend to get ticked when you try to take their pic! LOL

We could go to the Gilmore Car museum out in Hickory Corners. Just an idea. |
LOL...I can walk to the GCM. It is so far out in the middle of absolutely no where, that I'd be afraid we'd get people lost trying to get here. I mean, it's literally in my backyard, so I obviously wouldn't get lost. lol.
Here's a link. Gilmore Car Museum |
It is out in the boonies, but if you like cars, it's a must-see. Besides, that's what Mapquest is for.

We need to get a move on and set the date so people can start scheduling them selves for the event. |

hahaha...just for kicks I checked mapquest to see how it said to get there from my house. It said to turn left off my road. you CAN'T turn left off my road. Mapquest got me lost and it's right next door. good grief that's funny. (also another bump) |

I won't be able to make the GTG down state since I am starting my new job next week. Maybe next year.
I did get to have fun with the Yooper GTG today though - was only alfresco and myself. Maybe next time we can get some trolls to come up and join us ;-)

Hey! Watch who you're calling a troll! My hair may be fuzzy, but I'm not short and wrinkly! :)
On another note ... how does 24th or 25th sound? I guess I'm not too hot about a car show, but a zoo or museum or something would be cool. I wanted to go to the civil war muster in Jackson this passed weekend, but I had missed it! Ugh! |

Yeah, I live in Jackson. I saw it in the paper, thought, "Oh! What a great photo op!" But then I threw my 13 year old a b-day party with a sleepover, and I completely forgot about it! |

I'm going to Pleasant Lake to camp this weekend! :) Cool! I planned on trying to get a few pics while I'm camping ... usually of the silly family variety. |

Depending on the date and how far of a drive it is, I might be able to attend. |

So I've decided that I am going to this with my family if anyone else is interested:
Oh These Irish Hills!
Prices are $4 per person, or $10 for a family of 5 or more (this is me!). Let me know if you are interested. I work at MIS, so that's why it's easy for me to go. If anyone else would like to do something different, maybe on a different day, I'd be up for that, too. |

Ok, after taking into consideration everyone's input, I think I'd like to shoot for Sept. 24th for the date. Other possibilities are: Oct 8th, and Oct. 15th.
Possible locations: Gilmore Car Museum, Hickory Corners
Jackson - Fall Fest, or Irish Hills
Lansing or East Lansing (even both, they're not big)
In general: museums, zoo, landscapes, architecture
Lansing is pretty centrally located, has the downtown area and capitol building, several small museums including the state museum and library, and of course in E.L. there is the MSU campus.
So if the 24th sounds good, that will be it. Still like to hear if anyone has other ideas for 'where'.

The 24th of September is not a problem for me at all. The location is not a problem for me.
Just need to keep me posted on how GTG work as far meeting locations and that sort of thing. |

I won't be able to make it on the 24th of September. (But don't go changing things just on my account!) |

The 24th is good for me, and Lansing isn't too far either, so I guess I could be put down as a possible-as-long-as-nothing-happens. In other words,I'll try to make it.

There is an exhibition of the works of Luke Swank, a modernist photographer at the Kresge on campus (MSU). If this sounds good, we could have the gtg in East Lansing/Lansing, check out the exhibit and then check out the campus/E. L. strip, and/or downtown. Still thinking of the 24th... any input???
