A freind of mine is looking to buy a new camera. She was looking to spend 300 US dollars or less. What would everyone recomend. She is experienced with a 35mm slr. But has only had small point and shoots as digitals.

for less than 300, there are some options, but not many ... and no dslr's (not even used).
I know several people who have and love the canon powershot A510. It's only $200.00, has 3MP's and manual controls. |

look at the canon g series or the si series
<-- that one is out of the price range, but the g4 & 5 might not been.
Also saw a minolta dimage z20 yesterday at walmart for 298 (so probably cheaper at b&h etc).

If you find a Canon G4, buy it!
