The rusted wrench seen in my Textures entry has sat on top of that same rock ever since I found it two years ago in the woods behind my house. The rock sits on a little patch of grass between the end of the driveway and the entrance to the gallery. I had about 10 customers today between 11 when I opened and about 15 minutes ago when I came in the house to get some food. The first time I had been able to leave all day. And when I come out of the gallery the first thing I notice is the wrench is missing from the rock. So one of the people that was in the gallery today ripped off my wrench.

Sorry to hear that. People will steal anything...anywhere. I'll put a wrench out in the rain for a few years and send it to ya ! ;-)

This wasn't a regular wrench. One end had the box wrench and the other end was a spike. When I found it it was sticking out of the ground in the woods near an old run down vine covered house in the woods.

Sounds like the beginning of a horror movie.

Amazing. Now if you wanted someone to take it, it would still be there.

Agreed. Maybe you should have had a price tag on it. :-)

(Gaaaaaaaaa! Some people are so, so very low!)

I'm not one to start unsubstantiated rumors or anything, but I have a source down at Police Headquarters who gave me this photo they took of the rock under ultraviolet light. Maybe it means something. Maybe not. I'll let you decide.

I am laughing so hard right now...and I snarfed water all over the place. That is just too funny! Good job!

Someone probably just thought they found an old abandoned wrench that looked cool and was long since forgotten by anyone else.

Still sucks that it happened, though.

Damn CSI and their UV-bodily-fluid-detection-system! Sounds like you could use some surveillance cameras.

I don't know how they could have thought that - it was in plain sight on the rock right outside the gallery entrance which is on my property behind my house AND a print of the Textures Rock and Wrench is the only print of my work in the gallery and it is hanging right near the door with an explanation of the picture, the rock (which has its own story) and the wrench beneath it.

Ok...that's the funniest thing I've seen in a while. Very clever. So sorry to hear someone would steal it. What's the world coming to??

You left bodily fluids in my yard as well as stealing my wrench?

It's called a spud wrench. The pointy end is for lining up holes in iron beams.

This one is $5. Get someone to weld two 20 penny nails to the underside of the wrench, drill two holes in the rock to match the position of nails on the wrench and put some epoxy in the holes. That way they would have to steal the whole rock next time.

Yes! Exactly what it was...except rusted. If I find another rock ornament I will certainly adhere it to the rock somehow.
