Huh? Seems to me they mostly argue with me and call me seditious, unless I'm being helpful, in which case they are nice to me. But they DO give poor Karma a hard time... I blame it on Ken.

Pros: I love using this site! It's amazing how much you can learn from the forums and the 'how to' forums! I am still fairly new to the challenges but I love waiting to see how they are going to rate!

Cons: I don't have any really! When you get so many people together from different parts of the world there will always be griping. Sometimes it adds to the entertainment value, sometimes it doesn't!

Pros
The belly laugh I so frequently have when reading the forum!! You guys rock!
As a nervous newbie to both digi and ps I was blown away by the unstinting help, advice and support I got.....and the amazing friends throughout the world. Hey, I'm the one that yelled 'Help' in the middle of our Saturday night cos my new 300D wasn't working. No shops open here, everyone asleep. I think it was Welland (faidoi, he's been there with a helping hand so often!) who suggested I check that the lens was attached properly.....it wasn't!! You guys rock!!!!
Cons
I'm thinking....................... nup, nada :)

'we are famileeeeeee' *all I need now is ken and his amazing woodies to start dancing round the forum*

Pros~
Someone else deciding on subject matter. Keeps one on their toes.

Cons~
Having to view an overabundance of photos of pets, kids, selective desaturation and Woody figures.

There is too much redundancy in the forums. I wish others would read before posting. Also current scores and out takes in the forum while the challenge is ongoing. I’m having to use ignore way to often.

Most importantly the use of other photographers work (especially from outside the DPC) without their permission. I've seen quite a few photos from well-known photographers posted in the forums. Even if copyright laws have a loophole for supposed educational uses we should err on the side of photographer's rights.

And lastly ditto…

Pros:
Everything already mentioned plus being able to talk to people without worrying about what so-and-so thinks.

Cons:
Whining and bitching abour specific photos/votes/comments during the voting phase.

And my biggest 'con' - apparently I'm alway the last to know about Ken's (and Fetor's) amazing dancing woodies!!
:P

Well if we are going to list cons like this then there should be a [2] [3] [last] button next to every thread title so I don't have to navigate through the first page everytime. And when I post on page 3 for instance I should come right back to the same page instead of being sent back to the original post. This I think would also vastly speed up the site.

I totally agree. The reverse option doesn't work for me at all.

I prefer to read the last page...top down, not in reverse. And yes, when you post, you should be sent to your post or the last and not the beginning of the thread. It's kind of like you're being sent back in time for no reason.

....and here I go...."click"!

I have no cons, just pros! One of the most important for me is to share my work with other people. I rec a lot of postive feedback, something I do not rec in my small town in the south. They only want to see "normal portraits"-I don't do normal very often. They don't want to see sadness or any other type of emotion besides happiness portrayed in a photo. Rec. the postive feedback on some of my work that I love just feeds my creativity and makes me want to get better and better at what I do. I have also learned many new techniques that I have never even thought of trying before. I have learned so much about improving my pictures and taking better ones to start with. I cannot find one thing about this site that I would consider a "con".

As a newbie...

Pros: 1) great opportunity to learn from others; 2) The site encourages you to get out into the world and take photos through various challenges (although there are SO many wonderful photos I feel totally out of my league); 4) Helpful critiques and comments.

Cons: the only thing I've noticed so far is that some people really seem to get hooked on scoring.

As to the pros, pretty much all has been said. The cons for me is that I have put on weight since entering this site because I spend way too much time at the computer, when I should be walking, running, biking, or swimming.
