2.5" TFT LCD screen with an extended angle of view, Pre-set processing modes, Simultaneous RAW + JPEG on separate cards, more custom functions, more language options...

Just looked on Park Cameras and they say that the suggested selling price is about £2540 GBP, if this is correct it may not effect the price of the 20D unfortunatlly.

Does the 5D has the crop option for a faster frame rate?
Thanks

No, it doesn't... Canon is definitely not positioning this as a sports shooter's cam... I'd guess the frame rate is limited by the internal data transfer rate. It would probably raise cost significantly to make it much faster, and higher frame rate would also affect sales of the 1DmkII.

Well, I have to say, I've pored over the Canon .white paper on the 5D, and I am impressed. This seems to be a very well-considered package. This is the "tweener" camera that many of us have been anxiously awaiting, but in all honesty the feature set exceeds my expectations, with the exception fo frame rate. The white paper suggests (and the sensor specs imply) that the noise performance should be the equal of the 1DmkII, and if the resposiveness is equivalent to the 20D, the camera should be a joy to use. This definitely validates my earlier decision to invest only in lenses that would adequately support a full-frame camera; I can upgrade with full confidence that my current stable of lenses will perform to satisfaction.

It is human to keep hoping though... |
The used price will definitely go down...the new price will come down a little bit as well, methinks. But it's been coming down a little bit anyway... |

This is something that all Digital-SLR users should consider. The lens is the most important aspect. The body may change, but the glass is still going to produce the best quality images.

Well I bought my 1Ds Mark II, so I guess I won't be getting one of these (this year).
If I was not able to afford the 1Ds Mark II though, I would definatly be saving for one of these. The Buffer rate is awesome for a 13Mp camera. other then the weather sealing the 5D should be far better camera then the 1Ds was. I see used 1Ds prices going down way below the $3000 mark in the next few weeks. |

I just downloaded the sample images. this is definitely aimed at the advanceed amatuer. The only sample shot with L glass was a lanscape, and even then, it was only the 17-40mm f4 L...

Speaking of which.. What's with your 20D? Interim camera, or not shooting much digital?

Interim. For what I'm shooting latey it works great. I've always shot my landscapes on my pentax 67. And will continue to do so for awhile. I like to shoot some very long exposures ( 5-15 min) and film handles this a lot better than digital. Throw in the fact that I can scan my 6x7 slides on my Coolscan 8000ed scanner upto a 40x50 inch print, and I'm still sold on film. So for landscapes, cityscapes, and most nature I shoot film. For all my editorial and studio work I shoot digital. I'm waiting for the next major release of a pro canon or a job that requires the extra resolution to upgrade further.

Need a backup 6x7 body? I have one in a box that I will never use. |

I guess I'd have to get something out of it. Note, this is only a bare body. |

hehe.. I honestly didn't think you'd actually *give* it away, but can't blame me for trying.

I'm all full on the pentax gear. I'll use it until I can't use it any more. I just love the feeling of not knowing if you got the shot unitl you see it on the light table...
