Has anyone used the "Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM" yet? I'm very interested in getting one, because it will be as close as I can get to a 50mm on my 10D (1.6x crop).
If only someone made a 31.25mm prime for 1.6x crop users... |

If you look at the forums for Canon SLR lens, it's been getting very good users from posters. I don't remember seeing an official review so far.

I just ordered one from B&H last weekend. It shipped today, so I should be receiving it hopefully late this week!!
It's expensive and only works on small sensor digital cameras, but I don't care because it's f1.4!
The 50mm f1.8 is great and all, but it's WAY too telephoto for general shooting on a 1.6 crop camera! |

I have on on a Nikon D70. Check my pbase link for the samples.
It is well built, sharp, quiet, fast AF.

OK, I just got my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 the other day, and so far I am very happy with it! I got this shot today (shot at f/2.0)...
I did NOT sharpen this image in post processing. The only thing I did was cropping and a slight levels adjustment. Other than that it is straight out of the camera.
From my initial impressions, I am blown away by this lens! The f/1.4 max aperture is awesome for low light, indoor shooting! And the sharpness is really amazing. I have had some fuzzy photos, but this may be my own fault, and not the lens' fault. This is a great "normal" lens for a 1.6 crop camera. IMO, the Canon 50mm f1.8 is too telephoto for a general walk-around lens.
I can't wait to use this lens some more. Hopefully, I will continue to be blown away...
