The small JPG files take up very little room on the CF card and the hard drive. |
With some cameras the jpg is embedded in the RAW file so that option is not available without first extracting it using the CANON software. |
What cameras would that be?
This worked with the 300D and it works with the 1D Mark II. The 1Ds automatically displayed thumbs in RAW. |
10D.... There is no separate jpeg file.

I thought that's what I said in the first option?; |
I just wanted to feel special.
Actually, I misread it as choosing something from the file menu in the toolbar. I are not good reader. o_0 |

The viewer is part of
Microsoft Power Toys for Windows XP
On updating to SP2...I would recommend doing it so you can get the latest updates. Just backup your system before you install it. I do it all the time and have only had a couple machines die...=) out of literally hundreds.

Well here's something interesting! This thread made me want to try SP2 again so I could use the Raw Viewer program. Once again, SP2 killed my PC's ability to share the modem with my kids computers (they're networked and yes I know a router would be better but you know, it costs $$$). So, I installed the Raw Viewer and then uninstalled SP2! Guess what, the Raw Viewer still works! :) Wooohooo! It just won't install without SP2! |

After you installed SP2 did you check the Windows Firewall? That gets turned on automatically and may block the Internet sharing with other networked PC's. I also noticed that you mentioned having Norton Internet security, not sure, but that may also have a setting that can prevent that after the SP2 upgrade.
I personally don't use the Norton products they eat up memory like crazy. If you ever install anything on your PC, I would recommend disabling the Norton services until the install is completed.
I personally use the ZoneLabs Internet Security Suite for my PC and it works great. Pretty much everything you would need for your PC protection. It does not eat up the memory like Norton or McAfee.
I also installed the Windows RAW file viewer and it works well so far. I've been using it since they introduced it. |

Yeah, I'm quite familiar with the SP2 firewall and everything was open, even disabling both nortons and all SP2's protection yielded nothing. But, as soon as I took SP2 off and restarted the PC, boomshanka....up it came fine! Got me stuffed! |

Does anyone know of a thumbnail viewer for Fuji RAW, They actually go by the extension RAF, not RAW.
Edit: Not trying to thread jack, but it appears the original question was answered.
