Congratulations to Hieda for another ribbon, I am curious that there is no data suplied with the image, ie; ISO, Shutter time, F stop, aren't these compulsary, am also curious how long exposure lets the camera see through dress. |

The long exposure doesn't create the see thru dress by itself. Thats created by the woman running out of the picture at say 3 sec. with an exposure of around 5 sec. (times are just examples) Which means the camera wasn't given enough time to process her entirely, thus yeilding the see thru/ghost effect. Trust me, thats what I did for my entry too, lol:-)
and yes, congrats Heida, on yet ANOTHER ribbon!

That is strange must be "gremlin" at work because you would not be able to upload without that information. |

No, you can upload an entry without any of the exposure data fields. Required are the filename, date and the location; everything else (except the checkboxes) is optional; the camera is filled-in by default. |

I was looking at the comments and it seems that if a photo was good it got a comment and if the photo sucked it got a comment but not to many for the people in the middle. What gives???

I'm afraid I'm a little guily of that. I commented on 70+ photos, which included 100% of those I rated as 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10. I did comment on some of the ones I rated at 5 and 6. I think that it is harder to write a comment on those images that you rate middle of the road. The "bad ones" are easy for me to identify why I gave them a low mark and for the high marks, it is always easier to say you like something. Those ones in the middle, I find it hard sometimes to say something. |

Iam curious as to why the number of votes received after voting has ended varys from the number that were posted before the end of the challenge. i.e. will the long exposure challenge about two hours before the end I had 245 votes but after the conclusion of voting on the summary there were only 243 votes? This is the same as for my entry for Room which had 228 votes but after the end only had 224?

People have to vote on at least 20% of the images for their vote to count. If they don't, their votes are eliminated. Also, people who vote unfairly (giving everyone 1's or all 5's) get their votes eliminated. This may be the reason why the total number of votes falls a little on challenge completion.

I know what you mean, it sucks! I had a higher score right before the end, I would have almost been in the top 20. |

I think the exposure data (aperture, shutter speed and ISO) should be made a requirement for all photos uploaded to dpc, challenge entries and portfolio shots alike. That would add to the educational aspect of the site.
