| Has anyone been there or taken photos there? It looks like an amazing photo opportunity if you like hot air balloons. I came across some photos on PBase and investigated it a bit. I think it would make a really cool gtg...not for this year because the dates are too close. Perhaps for next year. |

Me and singsunshine lvie in NM about 180 miles north of Albuquerque. We have seen it before but we were not photographers at the time (heck we are not photgraphers now =) ).
But I believe it is one of the largest ballon events in the world. All sorts of different types and shapes. They also have a night mass assention. I am sure I could find more pictures fo you and all of that stuff.

My neighbor (not a photographer) went a few years ago. She said it was incredible. I saw some pics and it looked like fun.

My wife and I were driving through Albuquerque last year when the event was going on and the traffic jams were unreal so we did not try to get to it.
I imagine getting close to the ballons at this festival would be real hard as large as the event is.

| I've been to several when I lived in NJ. Back east they have the balloons go up in the evening. You have to get there early and make a whole day of it to avoid the traffic jams. They are lots of fun. |

| I don't know about the Albuquerque festival, but the Plano Balloon fest is coming up in early September. Any North Texas takers? |

| Well, I moved to Albuquerque two years ago and went last year to the Balloon Fiesta for the first time. The Night Glow is something to see, especially during the "special shapes" night. The balloon handlers turn on their valves at intermittent times during the evening and the balloons glow like fireflies in the night...well, fireflies shaped like cows, smurfs, and aliens... |

Go!, you'll be happy you did. These are some of the pics I took at last years Plano Balloon festival. I was able to get right down on the launch field with the crews.
