Since my wife got her 20D I have been playing with her old 300D a lot. Today I took it out on an outing for the first time (my S2 is still in the shop) and I had fun with it.
So... if I were to start using it regularly on outings I would not want to carry a bunch of heavy lens around with me. Two lens would be the max I'd want to carry. The first would be the 17-40F4 L that is on the way from the smoking Dell deal. For the second I would want something with telephoto and macro capabilities, and not the size of my leg. I've been checking out the Tamron 70-300 Macro but at $150 it seems to good to be true. Any suggestions/advice?

don't worry, i'm sure after you see the type of images the tamron produces, you'll see that it wasn't too good to be true.

I'd recommend the Sigma APO Macro II DG. About 50 bucks more, but I think better optically.

and with a better warranty too. I don't know in USA but here in canada the tamron 70-300 is under warranty for 2 years while the sigma is under warranty for 7...

Thanks! Does anyone else have experience with this or a similar lens?

After a little digging it's looking like the Sigma APO DG is the way to go.
