This lens is available in the shops here, it's pretty pricey though. Is it worth the extra $$?

At present only have the kit lens and 90-300mm F4.5-5.6 USM. Useful for the sports pics I take but............ahhhhhh truth to tell. I want another lens!!!! LOL

Is it a good lens?

thanks :))

It would work on the rebel wouldn't it?

The details in that image are amazing. How much editing have you done John?

For less you can get the 100mm Macro which is a fantastic lens and compatible with all canon bodies.

Is the 100mm Macro lens multi purpose?
I've been considering the Canon 85mm for portraits and indoor sports. Could I also use the 100mm Macro for that?

absolutely for portraits... the sports it's not very fast focusing.

edit: and 2.8 isn't fast enough for indoor sports.

I'm up in the north of NZ and availability is one of the problems. I ordered a 50mm f1.8 ll over 2 weeks ago online and it's not available.
Can't seem to get an answer when it will be. And of course I wanted the lens now............the waiting is driving me nutz!

Friend at work got the 100mm Macro.
I tried it.
For me it was way too big and not as multi-purpose as I wanted.
I already have 17-85 & 70-200.
Most of my Macro will be taken close up to subjects so I didnt need the reach.
