I don't usually post photos, but here's a link to a shoot I did last night with my uber hot cousin and her uber sex-ay hubbie.

Wow! I'm not sure why you don't post photos very often, but I wish you would. I love the style, although I don't know how you would even define it (reportage, lifestyle, ?) I also doesn't hurt that your cousin looks like that....

Thanks Nus. It's funny cause I thought this dirty little area was my own secret (I've shot bands there before - all shots are in the same small area behind a crackhouse and snowboard shop) but I opened up a big lifestyle mag in town the other day and it was voted best "graffiti" spot in town. |

Thanks! It was fun..they're 1 year old boy was sleeping soundly in his stroller, and it's a sketchy neighborhood so we had to appoint one person to keep an eye out the whole time. |

Beautiful shots Lori. They look kind of like Tom / Nicole (Crusie and his ex). Great setting and light. The 1st, fourth and last one are definately tops for me. |

I love the use of depth of field. Your photography really shows what the potentials of DOF are when use correctly.
I agree with Nusbaum that you should post more pics. |

I really like the first one, Kiss My Shoulder...but they are all great. Good use of lighting...

I can't take credit for the post-pressing. Charla (the girl in the shots) put a black and white layer over half the shots to whiten the whites and to make the shadows darker....to give it the "dirty" feel I was going for. That said, editing was minimal. No cropping.
The "poster" shots of them came out just like I had them in my head so I was stoked about that. We shot in a dark corner using a bright flash to bring out shadows behind them.
I wanted to add that these shots are a good example of blunt direction .. every other sentence from me was "okay Ryan, suck in..you too Charla".

I was going to comment that the dodging and burning looked a bit unnatural around the subjects because there was a glow surrounding them in some of the pictures.. ie: on the ground and on the walls too. But you say editing was minimal.
Perhaps this had something to do with lighting?
edit to add: Nice shots, btw.

The glow was on purpose..and it is from editing. It's supposed to have an "ad" feel. So yea, unnatural 'light'.

I used the same dumpster/buildings for theseshots too (some are a bit flat, I had no clue how to post-process back then).

Really nice, unique couple shots. I like "My man" and "That's my Husband". You should do some more work with this couple. If they have any more children, I'll bet they'd do some great maternity shots.
I like the angles, the dof, and the editing. All combine to give a real urban, sexy mood. |

LMAO
They're actually planning to have another child soon. We'll see. But they don't want to overlap with his career plans because he's turning pro (tennis that is) in a year and wouldn't be the most opportune time to be a daddy again.
edit: for terrible spelling
