I've had it done twice this year(surgery) the only prob I had is I'm a smoker and they put the tube down your throat to help you breath or something anyway after my surgery I hacked my brains out for three days, even ripped my stiches I hacked so hard, they say if you smoke you should stop a few days before surgery, other than that it was a piece of cake!!

I'm sure you'll be fine and I'll keep you in my prayers!!

I have always enjoyed the process. I have had seven so far and the next one is in a few days time. It's good fun :)

I tried to stop smoking. I tried the gum but it wouldn't stay lit. I tried the patch but it just kept sticking to my lips. Whats left??? Oh yea, I'm alergic to turkey so no cold turkey here.

I had to have my collarbone repaired after being run over by a fellow MC racer. I asked my friends to take me to the hospital and take me home after the surgery: this is what I got -- compromising pix (for a big burly macho idiot like me) with a teddy bear.

Seriously, I've broken a lot of stuff and had to be put under a few times. The technology is getting better and better. The first time, lo these 25 years ago, I was sick when I woke up, but it's gotten progressively better. The last time, about 5 years ago, I was not sick, and I felt like I'd just slept too much, that sort of fuzzy headed feeling. I felt pretty normal, and I was asking if anyone brought a pizza, & hitting on the nurses. :)

Also, regarding the smoking, some surgeons will provide a nicotine drip during the surgery & recovery -- it's proven that avoiding withdrawal speeds recovery. Ask for it!

I have sleep apnea so they put a breathing tube in me so I wouldn't stop breathing on the table. That tube-thing sucks! They almost drown you with lidocaine while putting the tube down and telling you to breath in (and choke). Then you're so numb from that stuff that you can't even tell if you're breathing so you think you're dying as you fall asleep. Whew... flashbacks...

Good that everything worked out well. Wait a few years and they start probing the other end. As for your parents seeing images in the fire equipment, maybe they were sampling the morphine.

So what brand of camera do they put down there - Canon or Nikon?

i got put to sleep during a dental procedure. i loved it, felt like i was floating on a cloud, woke up, and everything was done. felt like i was only asleep for about 10 minutes.

I've been put under 5 times this year, the second to last time was for a 6 hour op...I remember chatting whilst having the epidural, lying back for the IV, then waking up in ICU and all finished.

No side effects with any of the procedures.

thanks for helpin me feel better everyone! it ended up actually being really fun. i wasn't fully under they said but it felt like it. once they injected the stuff everything started dancing a little bit and the next thing i knew i was saying weird things to my parents as i woke up. IV is definitely the worst part!
