How could I have improved this shot?

I worked really hard on it, and really thought through what I was taking a photo of and what I wanted it to look like, and it came out perfect. And then I got all the comments about the blurry peg. I did that on purpose, but I guess it hurt me more than anything.

In cribbage, the front peg is the "winning" peg. In some of my outtakes, you can see the "finish" line. But that is why I chose to focus on the one I did.

Now that you know what I was going for when I took the pic, can anyone give me some advice?

Thanks! You guys are great! :)

From a class I just finished the photographer-instructor never liked when there where objects with a shallow depth of field up front in the foreground.

I left you some comments. I also noticed in you list of editing that you applied USM beofre resizing. It has been recommended to me by many people that you should do USM last, after all your editing and resizing.

If the image that you made is what you intended then it is finished. Try what the posters suggest and deceide for your self if you still like it. Make the image speak to you not the masses.
