My new (used) lens came today. I was going to brave the weather and go out and shoot, but on inspection I found dust in between the elements. The camera shop in Virginia that sold it to me assured me there was no internal dust. I packed it and am sending it back today.

When I saw the Thread Tittle, I assumed I would make a comment on how jealous I was... but now, I'm just going to say how "sorry" I am you have to go thru this crap.

What's wrong with a little bit of dust inbetween the elements?

nothing usually... It'd have to be pretty darn bad for it to affect anything. Also since the lens has weather sealing (right?), no more should be able to get in. Some lenses even have bubbles in the glass, and you won't see that on the pictures either. Photographers used to try to find lenses with bubbles in the glass because that meant they were quality. I wouldn't be scared by a little dust. If there's a ton... i guess it couldn't hurt to try again.

The man who sold it to me said there wasn't any. I'll get my own dust, I don't need to pay for someone elses.

If you like I can get you some excelent quality dust for your next lens, and I'll throw in a little sensor dust as well, at no extra cost...

:-).
