Moved recently to Vancouver, WA. In honor of my new 17-40L, I'd like to take advantage of the clear weather and shoot some evening pics of Mt. Hood. Can anybody point me to a clear vantage point relatively close to Vancouver/Portland? |

I know there are good vantage points 'round the East side, on route 35, but that won't do it for evening shots. I'm not familiar with the vantage points from the Northwest and North, which is the direction that I'd assume you would want to be for an evening shot.
I had *no* cooperation from the weather in May when I was out there.

I'll give this a bump for youa s I know we have a number of people down that way on DPC. Someone should know a good vantage point from accross the river in Washington. Anyone? |

Well, I found one, although it wasn't quite as unobstructed as I was hoping for. It still makes for a nice picture of a different type...
It is at a sub-alpine lake called, natch, Mirror Lake, about an hour southeast of Vancouver.

I thought that was the lake that had dried up when St. Helen's erupted....gonna drive me crazy until I remember the name.
