Congrat's Lisa! Did you get the black or silver?

For your info, if you didn't get a second battery, I bought a third party battery from batterybarn.com (the Power2000 900mAh one, for $21.95, much cheaper than the Canon NB-2LH) and seems to last just as long if not longer.

Here's the mfr site:
powerusa

And here's BatteryBarn (I've bought from them before--always very good service)

well, i have been mucking around with this camera and i gotta tell ya, I am still very overwhelmed. What i have come to realise is that if i want to shoot something in auto mode inside the flash goes mental. It is so bright that i cant see anything. So i covered it with some paper and the pictures worked out better. Maybe i need a lens hood if i plan on doing inside shooting.
Does this sound right?

Tomorrow i am planning on going out in the sun to see what i can get. Hopefully i will have something to show everyone.
From a very mentally tired Lisa :)

Congrats, Lisa.

Using a lens hood inside will probably not compensate for flash over-exposure. What it could do is produce a shadow on the image because the light cannot get past the hood.

For indoor shooting, try aperture priority mode (Av) and play with apertures from f/3.5 - f/5.6. That should produce ok results for you to start with. The same applies outdoors.

I never liked the internal flash on my 300D! I always use my external 420ex. Even though mine doesn't have FEC it's still so much more controllable and being able to bounce it is a BIG bonus!

Yahoooo Lisa Congrats!! Just head out and shoot everything....took me a while till I liked a few of the results I was getting from the 300D, the Sony717 was easier.

(((hugs))) I'm so pleased for you!
