Any chance for a forum to "Ask the Pros"? Being that I just got a 300d I have been looking thru threads and searching for answers to my noob questions and it is kind of a pain. Maybe there could be a forum where noobs can post questions and only "Pros" (photogs who make more then 1/2 their income as a photog or some other qualification) could answer. For threads that i've looked at for answers a lot of them end up with replies from people who seem to be in the same noob boat that I am in and only 1 or 2 replies from people I would consider a pro after looking at their profile and/or site. |

So you'd take the advice of someone who all they do is photography, making $10,000 a year off it over someone who is in some other profession who makes $100,000 a year and maybe pulls in $40,000 on the side?
Seems strange to classify a 'pro' as someone who makes more than half their income through photography.
A lot of the hobbyists out there make a very little amount every year through photography, but pour a lot of their heart and time into their work -- and know quite a bit more than the 'pros.'
What's the difference if you ask a question and a 10-year old answers it or ansel adams himself answers it...aren't you after the answer, anyway, in the long run?

Didn't mean to offend anyone, I just thought that was the guideline for what a pro is. I have seen it used several times in threads on here. It was also printed in the rules for my local city photo contest. "Experienced Members" would probably be a better choice to describe the people I would like to see reply?
As far as who answers, with a lot of questions it's nice to get a variety of answers (like asking about a certain image or problem) but with other questions it would be nice to hear from people with a lot of experince instead of 15 replies from people who don't even own a camera with the features you are talking about. |

There is a bit of a separation as to who answers your questions if you pay up and become a member because you can then ask the questions in the Member Discussion forum. But I doubt if that will guarantee you'll get better quality answers. I'd say to just post in the Q&A and see what you get. The average dpc user may know more about digital photography than some people who make a living at it.
