Okay, here's my "wooden" entry and some rejects (I took over 300 pictures). Did I pick the wrong one? I'm not complaining mind you, just curious.
Oh yeah...This was a fire department training burn.

I would have picked //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=210149 and edited a bit. Contrast, saturation, curves and some darkening |

These two are pretty cool (pun intended), and have a bit more emphasis on wood.
Love the way the fire shoots out the window.
Might need a bit more contrast...the wood seems a little "flat".

If you don't mind, i took the liberty to do some editing on this one.

I'll delete the file later today.

Don't worry too much about it.
Very cool. I haven't done any editing on the shots (except my challenge entry). I was thinking of using one that showed more wood.
As one of my commenters mentioned It was a good photojournalistic picture, but the crop was a little too close. I did minimal cropping on that picture and it was mostly vertically, not horizontally though. I admit it would have been nicer if I had more room though. Bummer, my own fault.
By the time we got to the end of the burn I was toasted. I had been in the building(without gear) and was ready to go home and let my lungs recouperate.
My favorite ones (for the wooden challenge) are:
,
As you can tell by this picture:
It was kind of smokey. This firefighter is wearing full turnout gear and breathing from his SCBA. When I took this picture I was wearing jeans and a polo shirt with sneakers and breathing smoke filled air.
Then a couple hours later we had a run to a brush fire and I got to breath in more smoke.
,
Two days later we trained again and burned up three cars:
, ,
Luckily we haven't had any more fire training. |
