Microdrives run at about 30x speed, so a high-speed CF card will be faster. Microdrives tend to be somewhat fragile and will drain your camera's battery faster, too. HERE'S a speed comparison of various CF media in several popular cameras.

To answer Lentil's original question, SanDisk (Ultra and Extreme) and Lexar (80x) are the top choices, but I've had some problems with Lexar. Kingston Elite Pro and Transcend are also very good and often much cheaper.

Avoid Lexar like the plague. I have used SanDisk, Kingston and Dane-Elec with no problems.
