First of all I just want to say thanks to everyone who commented on my texture entry. It tied my record of 15 comments (my wacky foods entry which I thought for sure would be dead last). Anyway, I have been playing around with Neatimage and it appears that (for this particular challenge) it may have been the reason most people didn't get the texture. I was going for the soft feel of touching the petals and I just didn't do a good job of it. The original picture was cropped and I "removed" the color in Photoshop to get the B&W. This is what I had before using Neatimage.

I thought it looked too grainy and not very soft at all, plus a little bit blurry too. So I put it in Neatimage and this is what I came up with and entered in the challenge.

This is a saved for web copy of the original image.
Any suggestions on how I could have done it better? How about the before and after Neatimage, did it help? I probably just picked the wrong photo to start with, which brings me back to my second reason I'm having a good week. I just sold my first photo!
I was one of my outtakes for the Landmarks challenge, and probably the one I should have went with in the first place!

Oh well, live and learn. And thanks again DPC!

The image lacks contrast - in actual contrast and in texture - perhaps a different crop or angle to show the thorns and the flower?

I played and got this..not sure it is much better.
