Truegsht, pretty cool stuff! I'm guessing you shot those with an IR lense hu? I like all three but #1 is my fav. Pretty early in the AM out here, so I'll be back to comment more about each photo later.. :O |

Added another from this morning...tried working some "blue" into the photo for effect. I admit...I need LOTS of learning.

You're doin' good Billy! I like the statue image, but that seems like it had more post processing?
I just opened a ModBlog account for my IR. Took a bunch this morning on my walk with Shiloh and learned that with the R72 and one polarizer, I can take great shade shots! Too bright for sunlit trees. Will need that ND8 for that :)

I'm just using the R72 and ND2 right now...will try some with polorizer later today if I get a chance.
Thanks for the comments!

Just the ND2? Hmmm, I had better get a ND4 because the ND8 might be too dark? :)

Please submit no. 2 to your DPC gallery so I can favourite it! Great combination of technique and artistry which is often lacking in IR shots. |

I like the one that looks B&W the best. Reminds of something out of Spooky Hollow.

I uploaded the photo you liked, and also submitted to DPCPrints...maybe it will get approved soon. I have another that was approved and ready for sale at DPCPrints as well.
Right now, I'm just using the nightshot function on the Sony F707 and using the Hoya R72 with an ND2 filter. Shooting on auto...usually around F2.0-2.2 1/60sec. exposure. I just swap red/blue channels in PSCS, then play around with different effects/colors. I'm planning on working more tomorrow since I'll be off work and can spend more time on it.
Thanks for the interest... and comments/critique

Hi Billy,
I wrote an action for the steps I have been using to process the F717 shots. I'll send it to you if you want. PM me your address if you want it. I do a manual levels after it to fine-tune the picture to what I want and then run USM on the resized version.
Since these images are relatively small and not the greatest at 100%, I was thinking of combining some in a dyptych or triptych or putting four into a larger rectangle and submitting those as prints. Does DPC print those longer rectangles?

They're definitely great uses of IR.. oftentimes many people seem to forget about composition and everything else when they're using IR because they're so caught up in the effect. You've definitely used it to your benefit. Great job.
