I fiddle farted too much today...but I did think I had plenty of time to still get my photo submitted for the 24-hour challenge. Luck would have it, the power went off (a transformer blew) and didn't come back up until after the deadline. Well, this would have been my submission. How do you think I would have done?

I think you would have got a lot of "doesn't meeet the challenge"'s. But it's a great photo otherwise, I think it could use a bit more contrast though. Good use of B/W.

I would bet that you would be right, Justin...although, I haven't had any more comments. It is a play on words which usually doesn't do well, but I wanted to submit it to see how it would do.

I can see the play on words but the voters would have killed you for it. The image itself is quite good but I feel it is a bit flat in contrast and perhaps could have been improved composition wise if the broom was on a bit of an angle or less upright.

It's a fine pic but I don't think you would have beat your average with it. Like Justin said, I've heard it may, may times myself,"Doesn't meet the challenge".

I don't understand people who say dosen't meet the challenge when someone is clearly being creative. Although some people truly do not look at the titles and here is proof...

got this comment on mine titled " Sandpaper Hieroglyphics"

I like it Granular hieroglyphs. I have a feeling this is just a realy cool sandpaper and we are all being made to look like fools. This has a very unusual peice. Definatel the only one of its kind in the challengs. Very crisp granuals and a very pleasant lighting. I realy like the authintic egyptian feel that the sand gives the image.

One way to beat the "It does not meet the challenge" group is to actively reward creativity, if there are enough people giving better scores for "creative shots" then in the end creativity+bonous will ballance those people who are status-quo...

Well, art wouldn't be art without it being subjective. Thanks a lot for responding with your comments. I agree with justin and john and tim, I would have been pummeled by the "did not meet challenge" folks. It is a valid point, but sometimes it is fun to stretch it a little...like there can only be some many bathroom shots. LOL THanks for the tip with the contrast. I tried that out and it looks a lot better. Just haven't put it up yet.

Keep in mind that just because someone comments that they're not sure the photo meets the challenge does NOT indicate that they are giving you a low score.

If the image is well done, and interesting, I tend to give the photographer the benefit of the doubt, assuming he/she had something in mind that I'm not be "getting". But I generally add the comment that I'm not sure it meets the challenge.

I made about 10 such comments on the "Room" challenge, and only gave low scores to 1 or 2 of them (because they also lacked creativity or quality).

So unless you specifically see something like "DNMC: 4", you really don't know that such a comment indicates a low score.
