In the manual for my 420ex flash it talks about Type A cameras and Type B cameras! Is the Eos 300D a Type A or Type B?

It only refers to film based cameras not digitals in the manual!

E-TTL and E-TTL II are type A. TTL is type B.
So the answer is A.
