OMG! This lady asked me to take some shots of her grandaughter for a pagent?! They need to be bw glossy portraits. I am going to have a heart attack! What do I charge? They don't have alot of money but I am not really close to them (friendship wise). Should I just do it for free? What poses do I take? I need suggestions!!

I was thinking $25 and she gets a disk to get her own prints?

If you give her a disc, she can reprint them as often as she likes without you getting a penny.

But can't she just scan the photos at home too? Do you never give them a disk? Is that a bad idea?

Since you asked, here's my advice.
You need to find out what kind of shots the pageant requires such as:
headshot, full body, with different outfits, etc.
Just ask.
As for poses, I did a search on google (beauty pageant portfolio) and came up with this link:

//www.jenniferpenegar.com/index1.htm

Click on pageants and maybe you can get some ideas for poses.

For pricing what I did starting out was do the shoot for free and
then they pay for the prints they want to order.

If you charge $25 and give her the CD you are short changing yourself.
She will probably be thrilled if you offer to do the shoot for FREE.

Hope this helps.
