Here are some sample images I took today with the 707 and the Celestron 80mm spotter scope. I put some pretty good detail about each image on this page. Clicking the thumbnail will give a larger pic

I did not like using the 707 on the Celestron as much as I did with the Canon D60

interesting.. though the second celestron pic is exactly (well, not exactly, there's a person missing..) but is at the same zoom as the first one...even though it says 1/2 optical zoom ..

i'd like to see full optical zoom (not digital, that usually looks rather ugly, as the third photo pretty much shows) on the 707 + celestron with maxview 40 in it.. it seems to jump from wide angle to full digital zoom :)

and thanks for the comparison!, chances are after looking at this, that i'll be looking at getting that telephoto... seems to be pretty good..

James,
are you using any "lens hood" on the Celestron? Seems like you are getting a little stray light in there reducing contrast. I have the same problem with my C90, and a homemade hood does seem to help.

Refracted there was about 95% vignetting....so I had to back it off to about half of the optical zoom. I tried to adjust the focus on the scope and the camera, then each by its self and then trying to set the cameras aperture to get the vignette to go away, but it would not.
you are correct the full digital zoom is less than desirable.

Kirbic, the Celestron has a so called lens hood/dew shield (front optics are recessed back about 3 inches) and the sun was to my back. I was kinda in a hurry so I didn't really try for high quality pics plus it was hot today So I wanted out of there.

I think the scope picks up the thermals to much, as it was pretty hot today. I should have shot over the grass and not over pavement.
